Santorum Earned Odious Search Engine Infamy For His Bizarre Obsession With Sodomy
BURLINGTON, Vt. – Truth Wins Out urged former United States Senator Rick Santorum (R-Penn.) to stop whining about unpleasant Google search results of his name and take personal responsibility for being tied to graphic sexual imagery on the leading search engine.
In 2003, Santorum said that the repeal of sodomy laws would lead to “man on child, man on dog” relationships. In response, writer Dan Savage created a campaign to tie search results of Santorum’s name to graphic sexual imagery. The campaign was a success, because if one searches “Santorum” on Google, the definition is unflattering, to say the least.
In appears that Santorum may now be running for President. As a result, he felt that he had to address the “Google search” issue before he went further into a possible campaign. Santorum told the publication Roll Call, “The Internet allows for this type of vulgarity to circulate. It’s unfortunate that we have someone who obviously has issues. But he has an opportunity to speak.”
“As a Senator, Rick Santorum had no issue with obscenely talking about man-on-dog relationships to score cheap political points,” said Truth Wins Out’s Executive Director Wayne Besen. “It seems sexually explicit language is only considered vulgar if it comes from gay activists and lauded as virtuous if it comes from Rick Santorum.”
Santorum went onto say that gay relationships would, “undermine the fabric of our society. And if the Supreme Court says you have the right to consensual sex within your home, then you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything. Does that undermine the fabric of society? I would argue that it does.”
“If you do a Google search on a person, it reflects his or her interests,” said TWO’s Besen. “If Santorum had been interested in improving the economy, it would be appropriately represented in the search results. Unfortunately, for his future aspirations, he was preoccupied with sodomy, thus a search of his name accurately points to his passion and obsession. Santorum has no one to blame but himself and he should stop his unpresidential crybaby routine.”
