Here is Christian writer Os Guinness, putting forth what he thinks is a compelling argument against gay rights, one that will “win hearts and minds”:

“A lot of people who advocate the Spartan culture; homosexuals, lesbians, gays, and so on,” Guinness said, “they forget Sparta was strong on homosexuals but it was very bad on women.  And many of the cultures where you have a high view of homosexuality have a very low view of women. And women whom we love and feminists who we appreciate; do they realize what they’re choosing?”

Wow. He had to go all the way back to Sparta. How historically illiterate would one person have to be to think that what Os Guinness is saying here makes any sense? Or simply, how stupid?

Off the top of my head: the area of the United States most hostile to LGBT people is the South. The area of the United States most hostile to women’s equality is the South. The areas of the world most hostile to LGBT people are sub-Saharan Africa, much of the Middle East, going eastward until you hit India and now, Russia. The areas of the world most hostile to women…

Oh, I forgot for a second. My readers aren’t idiots. I don’t have to spell these things out.

Enjoy:
