Yesterday, we received the news that the Supreme Court would not grant cert to the case of Elaine Huguenin, the photographer in New Mexico who refused to shoot a commitment ceremony for a lesbian couple. Believing that they had an airtight case involving buzzwords like “religious freedom,” Elaine’s wingnut lawyers at the Alliance Defending Freedom attempted to take the case all the way to the top, believing that their misunderstanding of the meaning of “religious freedom” would carry the day. It did not. They released the following video, explaining that, though the Huguenins’ fight is over, they’re standing ready to defend wingnut florists, wingnut bakers, wingnut photographers, and any other wingnuts who believe that they shouldn’t have to play by the same rules as everyone else in doing business, and that they’re being persecuted if they do.
