Truth Wins Out has been, and will continue to be, heavily focused on the Religious Right’s campaign for “religious freedom” exemptions, which are essentially, as I stated in Mother Jones, “a Hail Mary campaign to carve out special rights for religious conservatives so that they don’t have to play by the same rules as everyone else does.” Since they have lost their war against LGBT equality, anti-gay folks, who believe that they have more of a claim to this nation than everyone else, believe they should be able to exempt themselves from policies they don’t like. Toure discussed this today on MSNBC’s The Cycle, and he used my quote to springboard into a deeper examination of the new spate of laws.
