When Mizzou defensive lineman Michael Sam came out as gay, many were supportive and many weren’t. As he stands to become the first openly gay NFL player in history, many of those who value fairness and goodness more than bigotry have been speaking out passionately and eloquently in support of Sam, and one of the strongest defenses came from Dallas sportscaster, Dale Hansen. Ellen DeGeneres was so impressed she brought Hansen on her show, and his message is that his speech wasn’t brave — Michael Sam is the brave one:
