At some point, wingnuts are going to have to come to terms with the fact that it isn’t “activist judges” making these rulings, but rather ALL judges. The ruling has been stayed pending appeal, but Virginia’s marriage ban has been ruled unconstitutional:
The Federal District Court ruled that Virginia’s marriage ban violates the U.S. Constitution. It said that loving couples like our plaintiffs, Tim Bostic & Tony London and Carol Schall & Mary Townley are entitled to the same basic rights and protections as every other American.
This is a monumental victory—for Virginia and our country—and the first of its kind for a state in the South.
This case could be the one that forces a definitive SCOTUS ruling, and Virginia soon will be able to live up to its “Virginia is for lovers” motto for all citizens.
