We didn’t have a chance the other day to highlight this video of Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd issuing one of the greatest smackdowns in support of marriage equality I’ve ever seen. An anti-gay pastor stood up and challenged Rudd on his change of heart on marriage equality and Rudd, using his Christian faith as an anchor, proceeded to speak so forcefully that the pastor ended up looking like a scared deer in headlights. If you haven’t seen it yet, enjoy it real fast:
Prime Minister Rudd, call us. We have a project you should be a part of.
So now, that pastor, whose frustration and helpless anger, again, looks like this…
…is calling for a day of prayer and fasting against Rudd’s reelection:
“We have a Prime Minister who has promised that if he is re-elected he will introduce ‘homosexual marriage’ within 100 days of being in office. Just as violence leads to more violence, so immorality begets more immorality. ‘Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people.’ Australia has a strong Christian heritage as a nation so we ask that as you pray for peace in Syria, you also pray for revival and reformation for Australia. The Prince of Peace has all the answers for Syria and all the nations of the world. To God be the glory.”
Glad to see that the pastor, whose name is Matt Prater, has regained his composure. The election is tomorrow.
