The Tennessee Equality Project tweeted this morning that, in a coordinated statewide effort, gay couples in Tennessee would begin applying for marriage licenses:

TEP explains further on their Facebook page:

Nashvillians Will Peyton and Jef Laudieri were denied a marriage license this morning, not because of the County Clerk, but because of the unjust marriage discrimination amendment to Tennessee’s constitution. TEP is coordinating these events in Davidson, Shelby, and Wilson Counties today. Thank you, Will and Jef, for your courage.

Davidson, Shelby and Wilson counties include the metro areas of Nashville and Memphis.

The Tennessean has posted video of what happened in Davidson County:

More pictures and videos from Memphis as I get them.
