On June 10th from 6pm to 7pm, Becky Garrison, religion writer and author of Roger Williams’ Little Book of Virtues will facilitate a conversation about religious liberty with a focus on LGBT issues noting why this conversation should matter to both people of faith and non-theists. Joining Garrison will be Chris Stedman, assistant chaplain for the Humanist Chaplaincy at Harvard, author of Faitheist and Ed Buckner, former President of American Atheists and author of In Freedom We Trust, and other invited guests.
On a side note, June 10th also happens to be the 216th anniversary of the proclamation of the famous Treaty with Tripoli that clarifies what the Founding Fathers thought about the merger of church and state. And this year marks the 350th anniversary of the signing of the RI state charter that has the distinction of being the first governmental charter that crafted religious liberty into law.
