Last month I had the privilege of being interviewed by Patrick Farabaugh and Mary Carol on Being Authentic, their progressive radio talk show on The Mic 92.1 in Madison, Wisconsin. They had me on to discuss our work at Truth Wins Out, the Bachmann clinic scandal, the current state of the “ex-gay” movement, my initial foray into activism in my home state of Wisconsin, and LGBT life in Vermont (a marriage equality state and our new home). Incidentally (not!), Farabaugh is a prominent figure in Wisconsin’s LGBT community who was named an LGBTQ Living Hero in 2010 by then-governor Jim Doyle. A former senior designer for magazine publisher Condé Nast, Farabaugh now publishes Our Lives, a bimonthly magazine for the LGBT community in the Madison metropolitan area. The full-sized, all-color glossy magazine, which just celebrated its fifth anniversary last month, aims to combat internalized homophobia by increasing LGBT visibility and providing a forum for people to tell their stories. It is offered to Madison’s LGBT community and mail subscribers free of charge.
