When challenged on the right wing, anti-gay sources of his funding (and apparently his data gathering as well, as it turns out sociologists from Brigham Young University were involved in the study design…) Mark Regnerus just looks innocently at the questioner and says that he’s “just following the data.”
But he isn’t. His data, since it lacks any shred of relevance to gay parents in stable long term relationships (and given how the study was designed this is almost certainly deliberate), cannot be used to make the claims he’s making with it…such as that it proves the “no-difference” hypothesis is wrong. No. It doesn’t prove anything of the sort. He’s not following the data, he’s pushing it…kicking and screaming to where his homophobic sugar daddies paid him to deposit it.
