I usually don’t link to/quote letters to the editor in local newspapers, but this is an exception, because it so clearly captures what we’ve been saying for months — that people who can’t handle the idea of serving with gay people are probably not fit to serve anyway. The letter comes from the Oroville Mercury-Register in California:

I personally served with a homosexual while I was in the service. He was open about it and it didn’t bother anyone. Those men and women of the military who are so closed-minded about homosexuals that it would deter them from either re-enlisting or enlisting don’t belong in the military to begin with. If you have that much hate and discontent with someone from your own country then God knows what kind of war crimes they would commit against people from another country.
