A friend of mine on Facebook alerted me to this one…it’s apparently only making the rounds in the Spanish press right now and the link he posted was to a Spanish newspaper.  I can’t read Spanish but a little digging got me this…

Family Mass held in Madrid as Bishops claim UNESCO plan to make half the world homosexual

The Cardinal Archbishop of Madrid, Rouco Varela, led the Mass for the Sacred Family which was held in the Plaza de Colón in Madrid on Sunday.

He launched a harsh attack against the current situation in Spain and in Europe, declaring that Christ had lived in times of historic blindness, and that we were now in one of those times.

He warned about the risks of questioning marriage and family.

Meanwhile comments made by the Bishop of Córdoba, Demetrio Fernández, during his sermon on Boxing Day, shows Bishops in the Catholic Church believe a conspiracy theory which they claim is being organised by the United Nations. The Bishop of Córdoba said

‘The Minister for Family of the Papal Government, Cardinal Antonelli, told me a few days ago in Zaragoza that UNESCO has a program for the next 20 years to make half the world population homosexual. To do this they have distinct programs, and will continue to implant the ideology which is already present in our schools’.

I have to assume that the Bishop’s swing at the U.N. is bitterness over it’s recent vote to restore gay people to it’s annual resolution condemning arbitrary and unjustified executions.  But consider the fear mongering about homosexuality taking over the world. It’s easy to assume the crazy is strong with this one, but consider this man knows perfectly well what he’s doing.  Yes…it’s an outrageous lie, but if it incites people’s passions against their gay neighbors then it’s done its work.  Fear is the great blindness, and in times of historic blindness it’s good to be Big Brother.  And the last thing Big Brother wants is for people to behold the hated other and see a neighbor.  In a world full of neighbors, who needs Big Brothers?
