Former Vice President Al Gore and his wife, Tipper, have decided to go their separate ways after 40 years of marriage, news reports said Tuesday.
“He kept insisting that we use green, biodegradable condoms,” complained Tipper. “That was more than I could take. He had taken his crusade too far.”
Okay, I made up that quote.
But, seriously, I wish both Tipper and Al the best of luck. Having just ended a relationship, I know it will be a difficult adjustment for both of them. These are good people and have exemplified real family values for more than four decades. (Excluding Tipper’s short stint as music label scold).
The Gores’ informed friends of the separation through e-mail, according to the Associated Press. In their message, they called the break-up a “mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful, consideration.”
I hate to hear this, but I hope they are both happy.
