The next time Orange County Assemblyman Michael Duvall wants to turn his life into a sexually explicit joke, I suggest he try open mic night at a comedy club. Instead, Duvall talked about his conquest of two married female lobbyists into an open media microphone. His career as a conservative, anti-gay hypocrite ended before one could mutter “family values”.
“I am deeply saddened that my inappropriate comments have become a major distraction for my colleagues in the Assembly, who are working hard on the very serious problems facing our state,” he said in a statement posted on his website. “I have come to the conclusion that it would not be fair to my family, my constituents or to my friends on both sides of the aisle to remain in office. Therefore, I have decided to resign my office, effective immediately, so that the Assembly can get back to work.”
I’d like to say that I am shocked, but I’m not. This is just what anti-gay, right wing politicians do. It runs in their blood. The more one prattles on about the family, the more I question what they are truly hiding.
