“Truth Wins Out is Shutting Down” was the headline I had planned to write on New Year’s Eve.
With Hillary Clinton’s victory and the Democrats firmly in control of the U.S. Senate, the impressive gains made by the LGBT community would have been solidified. The Supreme Court would have stood for equality far into 
the future. The failed “ex-gay” myth was on life support. A Clinton Administration would have served as a powerful check on U.S. evangelical extremists spreading homophobia overseas. Clinton also would have countered perfidious Russian efforts to undermine LGBT rights and free people worldwide.
Trump’s nauseating victory, with the help of Vladimir Putin, voter suppression, and James Comey, has changed everything. Our new headline:
“Truth Wins Out to Fight Like Hell to Preserve Our Liberty.”
Every victory we have clawed and scratched to win is now in jeopardy. Our very democracy stands on the precipice and is in peril. Trump and his crackpot cabinet of deplorables are preparing to shred the Constitution and trample over human rights. They have no respect for common decency or the rule of law. Because no one fights like Truth Wins Out – we must be there for the fight of our lives in 2017 and beyond. Help us battle and brawl against the forces of darkness and delusion.

In 2017, we plan to monitor the madness and mayhem and shed light on the deplorable activity of anti-LGBT extremists. We plan to broadcast their lies and correct the record where possible – as well as broadcast the work of key LGBT community leaders who are in the forefront of change.
I have also created the Progressive Broadcasting Network (PBN) to counter the huge electronic media advantage the far right wing enjoys. Currently, the extremists have a thousand radio stations polluting the airwaves with anti-LGBT preachers and right wing talk show hosts. They have their own television network with FOX. You can drive coast to coast without hearing a progressive voice and only handful exist on television.
If we expect to win – this MUST change. To have any chance at success, we have to create our own media platforms. We must drive the national news narrative to ensure that Americans live in the reality-based community. If you still believe that progressives can continue to rely on corporate media to impart our messages, here are a few key facts you should know:
• In April 2016, The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research and the American Press Institute reported that just 6-percent of people say they have a lot of confidence in the media.
• Harvard’s Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy released a report during the campaign, which found that leading news outlets attacked Clinton in 2015 far more than any other presidential candidate. According to the report, eight of America’s most influential news outlets had coverage “negative in tone” about Clinton 84 percent of the time — compared to just 43 percent for Donald Trump.
• Donald Trump received more than $2 billion in free media during the primaries
• Over the course of the 2016 campaign, the three network news shows devoted a total of 35 minutes combined to policy issues – all policy issues. Meanwhile, they devoted 125 minutes to Clinton’s emails.
